Waste Batteries
All battery producers in the UK are required to be registered with the Government as part of an EU-wide initiative to increase battery collection/recycling and completely prohibit the landfill/incineration of automotive, industrial and portable batteries.
Start-up Batteries (Automotive batteries)
As a producer of automotive batteries under the Waste Batteries and Accumulators Regulations 2009, we Mercedes-Benz Trucks are obliged to collect, free of charge and within a reasonable time, waste automotive batteries for treatment and recycling from final holders e.g. garages, scrap yards, end-of-life vehicle Authorised Treatment Facilities, Civic Amenity Sites, etc. We are required to do this in any calendar year we place new automotive batteries on the market.
If you require us to take back any automotive batteries, please contact us via your chosen Mercedes-Benz Dealer. We will agree the necessary arrangements for the collection, proper treatment and recycling of the waste automotive batteries.

* Autogreen's network of Authorised Treatment Facilities and take-back points will take back registered Mercedes-Benz & FUSO vehicles. These sites will not charge for the disposal of these vehicles if the vehicle is complete, i.e. the vehicle must include its essential component parts, including but not limited to its engine, coachworks/chassis, transmission drive, catalytic converter, wheels, and must not contain waste. As part of Autogreen’s Rewarding Recycling Programme they may even be able to provide you with a value for your vehicle’s recycled parts and metals.
End of life vehicle legislation makes provision for the free take back of all vehicles up to a maximum gross vehicle weight of 3.5T. However, if your vehicle exceeds this weight, Autogreen may consider the take back of your vehicle subject to applicable terms and conditions.
